The goal of any streetscape or urban design is to provide the owner or community with an enriched, welcoming, aesthetically pleasing, and functional public environment. Accurate base information is essential for the often highly detailed nature of these designs to make sure that proposed site features such as curbing, walls, paving patterns, planters, and structures are ultimately built as envisioned while respecting often challenging site restrictions such as rights-of-way, existing buildings and utilities. The participation of the owner, the municipality, state agencies, and the community is necessary in order to compile and understand the needs of all stakeholders before proceeding with the design.
