Human & Rohde performs master planning and design for improvements for historic sites as either stand-alone projects or as part of a larger park setting. We find this type of work to be a rewarding and educational experience as we consider the people, site features, and events that influenced a place throughout its history. Through the master planning process, we assist owners develop a direction for organization and improvements in a way that respects and reinforces the historical heritage of a site. When planning or developing an historic site, we will consult with local historical societies, research historical design and materials, and engage the services of an archaeology firm to perform cultural and historical resource investigations in order to gain an understanding of the context for the design.  Archaeological studies are an essential tool for determining the limits of historically sensitive areas that may warrant further in-depth investigation or be preserved entirely.
