Human & Rohde, Inc. was responsible for the design of landscaping and amenities areas for this five-building retirement complex in Owings Mills. The site landscaping was designed for each phase of construction to comply with the Baltimore County Landscape Manual. Enhanced foundation planting was provided for several buildings as the budget allowed. At the conclusion of each phase, the firm performed landscape certifications for compliance with county requirements.
The main feature of the project is the central open space courtyard for which Human & Rohde designed a circular patio with benches, pool and fountain, and a large sitting area with an extensive pergola, benches and ornamental garden with paver pathways.
A community garden with raised planters was added in the open space between the fountain and pergola area for the enjoyment of all residents in Summer 2012. The installation involved significant volunteer support and the generous donation of time and materials from the Home Depot.
