Rose Hill Manor Park & Museum in the City of Frederick is a Frederick County historical site. The Manor House dates to approximately 1778 and was the home of Maryland’s first Governor, Thomas Johnson. Human & Rohde, working with a Master Plan Committee, prepared a Master Plan, Report, and cost estimate for the 43-acre site. After a program for the site was developed, our task was to lay out the proposed amenities in a sensitive manner that would enhance the historic property. We prepared alternative schemes for the Committee’s review and then completed the final Master Plan based on the Committee’s comments. The new facilities include a visitor’s center, new carriage museum, barn, slave quarters, trails, picnic pavilion, events area, additional gardens, and improved parking and vehicular circulation. The Master Plan was approved by Frederick County Board of County Commissioners on May 5, 2009.
